Sebastian Castelier is a freelance journalist and visual storyteller who documents the long-term impacts of the energy transition on the Gulf Arab region. He started his career as a photojournalist, documenting news events across the Middle East. He notably reported in Iraq on the aftermaths of the Islamic State's invasion of Mosul in June 2014.
Sebastian's field reports, analysis and photographs have been published on four continents by more than 60 news outlets, in 15 languages, including English, Arabic, Chinese, German, Spanish and French
Sebastian's commitment to documenting historic changes faced by oil-exporting countries in the era of the energy transition honours the legacy of his late grandfather who dedicated his life to developing the oil industry, believing the 'black gold' is a source of economic and social development for many nations.
